Hey everyone,
Another successful camping trip goes
down into Friendskit lore! And much as everything else we do, this one
will have its notable and notorious moments.
First, just wanted
to say a HUGE thanks to all of the drivers, especially the ones that braved the
“road” to the trailhead. So Dan, Mike,
and Jeff. Thanks! Although I don’t know if Jeff needs thanking
cause he seemed to enjoy that drive.
Thanks also to everyone for
contributing to the success of the trip.
It makes it so much easier when everyone pitches in to cook, clean, and
do the little things that need to be done on a trip of this magnitude.
Please send me the cost of anything
you purchased for the
group: drinks, firewood, ice, food, smores, etc etc. I’d like to get the calculations done in time
for this weekend so please send them to me by Wednesday. Note that I’m not dealing with gas costs, so
please take care of those among yourselves.
With that, here are a couple of
tidbits that I learned on this camping trip:
- Maps are good. They’re even better when you bring them on
the trail with you
- You never have to worry about not
being able to pray successfully to the porcelain god when it doesn’t flush…
ever
- Fat Tire is the BEST ale EVER!!!
- Alex is a fishing GOD, or they
have the dumbest fish at
- Shawn CAN wake
up before 10am on a camping trip!!!
- Mike LOVES the smell of bacon in
the morning
- Henry REALLY doesn’t like wet dogs
- The answer to all questions... Ciabatta
Thanks again everyone! Until next trip (next weekend
:p)!

First day of unemploymenet
and I can't even sleep in past 9. Thanks Tony for organizing the lovely trip to
the land of no flushing toilets and mutant flies. Besides that part it was a
lot of fun :) Bailey enjoyed the trip too, but I think he couldn't wait for a
shower either. I've never seen him so happy while giving him a bath. Mango
tango fresh now. Can't wait to see pictures!

BIG THANKS Tony for organizing another successful camping trip!! And to everyone who prepped/made food and put in way more effort than my lazy s'mores bringing ass. And to everyone who contributed cooking equipment, tents (Jennie! who couldn't even make it ), drove and sacrificed their car-bottoms (sorry again Tony!!) and hubcaps..
To add to Tony's list we learned a few more things:
-We thought Stonyfurd would be the most major city near the camp. And, sadly, it is.
-Dan taught us ignant city folk how to gut a fish. Which I shall forever visualize when using that knife to chop vegetables at home
-Tony has so much faith in our ability to self navigate on trails he let us loose with "Everyone just go wherever you want at this point!"
-Henry thinks that whenever we stop hiking it's because we're politely waiting for him to take a picture...not that we need to rest our out of shape asses
-I learned never to start the torch game with anything to do with Michael Jackson, or it dies real fast
-Mags learned never to pack muffins next to onions
-Mags learned always carry her own set of housekeys, esp if she anticipates needing to pee and Shawn is in another car that will pass a casino.
-Even I reach a limit on bacon consumption
-Even Shawn can be drowned out by Tony on the talkabouts
-Dan doesn't care about his hubcaps
-Jean can create gourmet hors d'oeuvres out of any scraps of leftover camp food
-We can inhale tons of campfire smoke no problem, but people smoking cigarettes across the fire from us is intolerable
-drunk/stoned white people are funny, esp when they repeat multiple times how they were gonna steal your food when you were out hiking
-the sanitizing stuff they use in the pit toilets can smell nice, but 48hours and 18 meat-eating people later, it get vastly overpowered and then some.
-that huge ass log in the middle of the fire is probably still smoking right now
-that one Fresh Choice franchise will stay in business just from our regular annual visit.
cheers! can't wait to see pics,
Grace

Yes, THANKS TONY for organizing the
camping trip! I had a great time despite
learning when I arrived at campsite that there will be no showers. ;) I guess I had the misconception that all
camping would be like
And thanks to all the drivers for
driving, especially Mike Z for driving and picking me up. Mike - let me know when you want to collect
your lunch. :)
Read "the da
vinci code" book (it's awesome!), but don't
bring it with you to a social event bc
you will become anti-social! haha...
Here are some pictures from my
